How Livestation was developed

Livestation has been developed by Skinkers, a privately funded technology company based in London.

Livestation is based on advanced peer-to-peer technology, originally developed by Microsoft Research. Skinkers acquired the full intellectual property for the technology through a pioneering technology for equity agreement, where Microsoft acquired a minority equity stake in Skinkers.

From the results of this research, Skinkers has developed the Live Delivery Network™, an enterprise-class peer-to-peer distribution architecture. Livestation is the first product based on this platform.

The core Livestation distribution technology is independent of any particular audio or video encoding or compression scheme.
