<body>Since I am totally blind, I enjoy a simpler console
envirenment. Several months ago
I downloaded-and-installed a livestation
version, but when I run in FC9
it says, &quot;cannot connect to x server&quot;
Well, I am not running in a
graphical mode.
Even worse, when I look at
the download pages for new
versions, the links are hidden
among javascript-and-ajax, so I
have no idea what type of alternative
linux software may
be available?
On my laptop we installed a windows version,
however, the menues are not speaking
at all, no navigation.
Thanks in advance for listening</body>

<body>I've installed the latest LiveStation client on Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell XPS laptop using NVidia graphics hardware. I'm using the latest NVidia proprietary drivers and can play full screen video of other internet streams (BBC IPlayer) and other video files via XBMC amongst others. However, when I use Live Station in window or full screen mode the audio is crackly and the video is jittery. I can run Live Station in Windows on the same laptop without any problems so I am thinking it is something to do with the linux client.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so, how was it fixed?

Thanks!</body>

The original upstream endorses the usage of OpenAL Soft,

It will come with a copy of libopenal.so.1, backwards compatible ABI but different API.

<body>I'm totally new to Linux (but have used computers since saving to punched paper was the norm) and encountered this error and looked around and see that others have also encountered it.

I didn't find a solution on the various forums, but since Livestation had worked before today's attempt, I looked at my setup more closely and saw that the &quot;system tray&quot; on the bottom right was absent.

It turns out that in Linux , at least in distro I am using, LinuxMint Gloria, a variant of Ubuntu, this is called the &quot;Notification Area.&quot; To restore it involved nothing more than right-clicking the bar on the bottom, selecting &quot;Add to Panel,&quot; and selecting &quot;Notification Area.&quot; Once I did that, Livestation loaded up and ran without breaking at that error.

I'm pretty sure this will work with many (mostt?) members of the Linux family, but if some in versions users get that error and this doesn't work, they might want to search for help in adding a &quot;Notification Area&quot; to their display.

Hope this helps a few Livestation regulars and Linux newbies get past that obstacle. LinuxMint is the first OS since Amiga I actually like and Livestation has become well established as an essential resource, so I am glad that the work on this viewer is so advanced.

Thank you.</body>

    <body>Hi..
I am on Mdriva-cooker2010 X86_64.
Livestation (2.7.0 or 2.8.1) is correctly installed
When starting i get this warning:
&quot;/usr/local/Livestation/Livestation.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64&quot;

I tried to copy/link the 32bits libraries &quot;libGLU...&quot; from /usr/lib to /usr/lib64 and/or to /usr/local/Livestation/lib.

But i still can't launch my Livestation and get the same warning..
Please, is there any Livestation-x.x.x.run for mandriva-X86_64 system.
Thks
Best regards.

<body>I gave up Windows Vista for Suse 11.1 64. I am glad I did. I love it. And what makes it even more better is that Livestation has a linux installer.

So I just wanted to say thanks not only for a great program but an extra thanks for having it for Linux as well. It works great, well once I read this forum and figured out how to get sound, lol. Which was easy enough to do.

Great Job with Livestation!</body>

<body>Livestation is great, but was driving me nuts - just stalling and staying stalled for no reason, uncannily right at a part I really wanted to see @!!!

After a week of futsing, discovered :

There is a fix for Atheros wireless cards that just drop the stream:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=540101

see entry from Robnz.

basically, put your wireless card and router in ONE mode, ie 11G.

Problem solved. Drops out once a hour, but resumes almost right away...

A note added later : Installed WICD network manager (replacing gnome) from synaptic and doubled my speed ! Unbelievable ! Same result with my desktop....

Ubuntu 9.04, Toshiba 300D, ATI ( open source driver ) Atheros Madwifi driver.</body>
