Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why does Livestation not work with my anti-virus or firewall?
Most anti-virus or firewall applications simply warn you when new software is installed. Simply tell your anti-virus or firewall application to allow Livestation to run and you won’t get the message any more. On Windows Vista, you can configure Livestation as an “exception” in the Windows Firewall.
-
Can I use Livestation with an authenticating proxy server?
This is not currently possible but may be available in a future release.
-
How can I configure my firewall in Vista?
Livestation should configure the Vista firewall automatically on start up. If it does not then you can configure manually. Just go to the Windows Firewall settings in the Network & Connectivity centre. Add Livestation as an exception in the “Exceptions tab. If previous versions of Livestation already exist as exceptions these should be removed first.
-
I am still getting firewall problems. Should I disable my firewall?
We DO NOT RECOMMEND disabling any software firewall or anti-virus products to enable Livestation to work. Those products are designed to keep your computer safe.
-
Why does my anti-virus/anti-spyware product not like Livestation?
There are a lot of different anti-virus and anti-spyware products out there. We have not tested against all combinations. If you are experiencing problems then please let us know.
-
Can I improve the picture quality?
The best way to improve the quality is to make sure you have a high speed broadband internet connection. A speed of 800Kbps is required for proper reception.
-
What happens when I close Livestation?
When the Livestation player is closed it enters an idle mode. This means that it keeps in contact with the Livestation network so that it will be quicker to retune to channels when the application is restored. When Livestation is idle it consumes no more than 64Kbps of your network connection, which is unlikely to cause any problems with other applications.
-
The tray icon stays there after I stop watching, why is this?
As with many other applications, Livestation remains available in idle mode. To exit the player completely simply right click on the system tray icon and select Exit from the menu.
-
How do I pause or record a Livestation channel?
Livestation currently provides live television and radio broadcasts. The ability to pause or record a live stream is not available in the current release, but may be provided in the future. So stay tuned.
-
Are subtitles supported?
Although subtitles are not supported in the current release we aim to provide subtitle support as soon as possible.
