What are the minimum requirements for Livestation to work on my machine?
For Windows a personal computer running Microsoft Windows XP or Vista. For Mac (Intel or PowerPC) OSX Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5. For Linux Ubuntu, Fedora 9 and OpenSUSE distros. The minimum recommended hardware specification is a 1 Ghz processor and 256 MB of memory with a graphics card that provides hardware acceleration and OpenGL support, with the latest graphics drivers. Machines purchased more than 4 years ago may not meet this requirement. A broadband connection with a minimum of 800 kbps downstream is required.

Are you going to build a Mobile version?
Yes, but we will concentrate on the core computer market first. A mobile version is under consideration for the future.

How much bandwidth does Livestation consume?
Depending on the data rate of each individual channel, Livestation may consume up to 800kbps downstream while it is viewed and 256kbps upstream capacity. At other times, when the player is idle, it may use a small amount of capacity to keep in contact with the Livestation network. This is limited to 64kbps.

How much processing power does Livestation use?
Viewing digital video can require a relatively large amount of processing power, particularly when viewing at larger than the native video resolution. Using a smaller video window generally uses less processing power. When Livestation is running in the background it typically requires only a nominal amount of processing time, typically less than 1%.

How well does Livestation work over wireless?
Livestation works well over wireless networks but is obviously dependent upon the speed and quality of the wireless connection. Performance may be poorer depending on the distance to the wireless access point of the number of users sharing the network.

Can I play the channel in an alternative player?
This feature is not currently supported. Livestation provides playback using its own integrated media player.

What effect will Livestation have on other computers in my house?
That depends on what you are doing on the other computers and the speed of your network. If you have a slow network connection, and are trying to run live video as well as other applications, then you may reach the maximum speed of your connection. When that happens you may notice problems with video quality on Livestation, or performance problems with other applications.

Is the Livestation network secure?
Yes. The Livestation network is secured to prevent unauthorised applications joining the network and to ensure that only streams from authorised broadcasters are available on the network.

Why does Livestation not work on my office network?
Office computer environments may limit the types of application and networking that they allow. It is possible you may not have the necessary administration rights to install the software, or that the network traffic may be blocked by your network administrator.
